CALL FOR ENTRIES:

Deadline : August 31, 2013

CALL FOR ENTRIES
Filmmakers are invited to submit their work for the Gold Lion Film Festivals sixth-annual celebration of short cinema, to run between October 15 and October 31, 2013. Each year the number of submissions grows as the festivals reputation expands. Dont miss out on the opportunity to have your work shown in Africa and be part of the excitement of this special showcase.

Criteria:
All genres of film and video shorts up to 45 minutes
in length are welcome.  (Time length exceptions may be negotiated with the festival director.)  High-quality work is sought (sometimes, a film’s quality is established by a liveliness of story, intensity, or quirkiness of direction that can overcome technical problems), and works of social commitment that illuminate the human condition in all its dramatic, comedic or musical manifestations.  Cinematic innovation and works with a strong directorial point of view are encouraged.  Fiction and non-fiction stories whose makers clearly show their passion for their subjects are sought.

Works competing for festival awards must be completed after January 1 2013.  (Exceptions may be negotiated with festival director.)  Non-English language films must be subtitled in English.

2013 Festival Entry Fees To Remain the Same.  Festival organisers had intended to raise entry fees for the Gold Lion’s Nineth Edition in light of rising costs to mount the exhibition and to accommodate an expanding roster of prizes.  However, global economic conditions have also impacted on filmmakers, and it is the festival director’s decision to keep entrance fees this year as they have been.

Early Entries: January 2013 through April 15th 2013.  Fee: US $40
Regular Entries: April 16 through July 15, 2013.  Fee: US $50
Late Entries: July 16 through August 15 2013.  Fee: US $60
Extended Entries: August 16 through August 31 2013.  Fee: US $70
